Simple Syrups


Simple syrup is quite easy to make and can be used in a variety of drink and food recipes. This recipe makes more than you will use in one drink, but you can store syrup  in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one month.

Vanilla Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Caramel Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon caramel extract

Add sugar and water to a saucepan. Heat it over medium heat, stirring constantly, until all the sugar is dissolved. Add extract to mixture. Remove it from heat and allow the mixture to cool.

Pumpkin Spice Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons canned pumpkin
  • 3/4 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk

  • 3 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 3/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 3/4 teaspoon cloves

Add sugar and water to a saucepan. Heat it over medium heat, stirring constantly, until all the sugar is dissolved. Add pumpkin, pumpkin spice and stir. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Add vanilla extract and sweetened condensed milk and stir.
